Become a CommShare Mentor

CommShare Mentors are the heart of our program.

They guide student leaders, support schools, and help create safe, fun, inclusive lunchtime spaces where every student feels they belong.

If you're passionate about youth, community, creativity or wellbeing — we’d love to meet you.

Mentors help schools run the CommShare program by providing gentle guidance, leadership support, and activity expertise.

Your role includes:

  • supporting student leaders during training
  • helping co-design term calendars
  • attending weekly or fortnightly lunchtime sessions
  • offering ideas, encouragement & hands-on help
  • liaising with a supervising teacher
  • modelling kindness, inclusion & leadership
  • completing basic session notes/check-ins
  • upholding safety and child-safe standards

You won’t be running activities alone — student leaders do that.
You are their coach, guide and cheerleader.

You don’t need to be a teacher. You don’t need a degree. You don’t need to be perfect.

You do need to:
✨ Enjoy working with young people
✨ Communicate confidently and kindly
✨ Be dependable, patient and inclusive
✨ Bring creativity or positive energy
✨ Hold (or be willing to obtain) a Working With Children Check
✨ Value community, equity and safety

Our mentors come from diverse backgrounds: youth work, education, social sciences, arts, sport, leadership, volunteering, church/community groups, and more.

If your heart is for young people — you belong here.

What You'll Recieve

  • full CommShare Mentor Training
